Season 4 Server Rules

These rules exist to keep Peps SMP fair, enjoyable, and welcoming while supporting the exploration, colonization, and roleplay systems of Season 4 — The Great Flood.

1. Be Respectful

Treat all members with respect.

No harassment, bullying, hate speech, discrimination, or intentional provocation.

Keep arguments civil and take personal disputes to DMs.

2. Land Claims & Territories

Season 4 introduces a new world-generation system consisting of three types of land masses.

The territory system is designed to support the semi-roleplay aspect of the server and encourage players to form colonies and communities.

Large Continents

Large continents can be approximately 1,000 × 1,000 blocks in size.

A large continent may only be claimed by a colony with 3 or more active members.

Season 3 Community Contributor Exception

Players who participated in Season 3 and hold the Community Contributor role may claim a large continent without meeting the 3-player requirement.

The 3-player requirement and Community Contributor exception will be strictly enforced.

Players and colonies may not circumvent this requirement by temporarily adding players to their colony solely to meet the minimum population.

Small Continents

Small continents may be claimed by any established colony with 2 or more members.

A colony claiming a small continent is expected to have an active presence on the territory and make reasonable use of the land.

Small Islands & Scattered Islands

Small islands and groups of scattered islands may be claimed by 1 or more players.

These territories are intended for smaller colonies, groups, and individual players who do not have enough members to establish themselves on a continent.

Territory Size & Colony Population

The size of a territory a colony may claim should reasonably reflect the size of its population.

The purpose of this system is to prevent very small groups from controlling enormous areas of the world while encouraging cooperation, colonization, and the formation of larger communities.

Staff reserve the right to review and adjust claims that appear to circumvent the intended purpose of the territory system.

Inactivity & Abandoned Territories

Land claims are intended for active colonies and players.

If a player or colony is inactive for 1 week or longer without prior notice being given to a member of staff, their territory may be considered abandoned.

Once a territory is considered abandoned:

  • The territory may become unprotected.
  • Other players or colonies may enter, occupy, loot, or pillage the territory.
  • Staff may remove or modify the original claim.
  • Buildings, resources, infrastructure, and other property left behind may no longer be protected by the server rules.
Going Away?

If you know you will be away for 1 week or longer, notify a member of staff beforehand.

Approved periods of inactivity will not result in your territory being considered abandoned.

Staff will use reasonable judgement when determining whether a player or colony has genuinely become inactive.

3. No Griefing or Stealing

Do not destroy, alter, or steal from another player's builds, infrastructure, resources, or belongings without permission.

Respect claimed territories, borders, colonies, and community projects.

Entering another colony's territory does not give you permission to take, destroy, modify, or interfere with anything within it.

Abandoned territories are an exception to these protections where the inactivity rules above apply.

4. No Hacking or Cheating

Modified clients, hacks, X-ray, duplication glitches, exploits, or other unfair advantages are prohibited.

If you discover a bug or exploit, report it to staff rather than abusing it.

5. Create Mod Etiquette

Keep contraptions optimized to reduce server lag.

Avoid:

  • Excessive item entities
  • Machine spam
  • Unnecessary clocks
  • Massive automated systems
  • Other constructions that place excessive load on the server

Staff may require players to modify, reduce, disable, or remove contraptions that cause significant server performance issues.

6. PvP & Roleplay

PvP is primarily intended to support the roleplay and lore of Season 4.

All parties involved must agree to PvP before combat takes place.

Players and colonies are encouraged to develop their own:

  • Identities
  • Politics
  • Alliances
  • Rivalries
  • Relationships with other groups

Not every colony is expected to be peaceful.

Some groups may choose to roleplay as aggressive, militaristic, hostile, or expansionist societies, while others may prefer diplomacy, trade, neutrality, or cooperation.

These differences are encouraged as part of the Season 4 experience.

Conflicts & Wars

Roleplay conflicts, wars, territorial disputes, raids, and other hostile interactions may take place when all involved parties have agreed to participate.

Players are encouraged to use these situations to create meaningful stories and events rather than treating PvP purely as a way to gain an advantage over another player.

Roleplay Is Not an Excuse

Roleplay is not an excuse to harass, bully, repeatedly target, or ruin another player's experience.

Any major conflict should have an agreed-upon understanding between the involved parties regarding what is and isn't allowed.

No spawn killing or repeated harassment is permitted.

7. Keep Chat Appropriate

No spam, excessive caps, or disruptive behavior.

Use channels for their intended purpose.

NSFW content is not allowed.

8. Respect Staff

Follow staff instructions.

Do not argue with staff decisions in public channels.

If you disagree with a decision, open a ticket or contact staff privately.

9. Advertising

Do not advertise other servers, communities, or services without staff approval.

10. Account Responsibility

You are responsible for anything done on your account.

Do not share your account with others.

Ban evasion or using alternate accounts to circumvent punishments is prohibited.

11. Common Sense

If something feels unfair, disruptive, or harmful to the community, don't do it.

Rules cannot cover every possible situation.

Staff may take action against behavior that intentionally circumvents the rules or damages the experience of other players.

Punishments

Punishments may include:

  • Verbal warning
  • Temporary mute
  • Temporary ban
  • Permanent ban
  • Removal or modification of territory claims

Punishments will depend on the severity and frequency of the offense.
